So Much To Do, So Little Time!!!

Where do I start?? Five + lesson plans, a literacy center, dialogue journal, interactive bulletin board, and much more I am probably forgetting...all in 3 short weeks with nearly 60 fourth graders!

I am doing my pre-internship (Field III) experience this semester at Beebe Badger Elementary School. I was completely terrified of 4th graders, I have avoided that grade level during all of my observations. After all, they're nearly as big as I am...some are bigger...some have developed little pre-teenage attitudes, and they are probably smarter than I am. What could I possibly teach them?

It was totally a God thing for me to be placed in this classroom. It was just what I needed. I needed that push, that push to do something I wouldn't normally do. That push outside of my little box. Not only is this a 4th grade class, but it is a class that switches with another class at lunchtime. Whom do they switch with might you ask? A LANGUAGE ARTS CLASS. So what does that mean? I am in a MATH AND SCIENCE class! YIKES! Yeah...if you know me at all, you know that I am a "language/arts person." So, I was completely surprised, terrified, shocked, and scared on my first day of class.

On the first week of school, I got called pregnant...uhm...NO! Hah, I couldn't help but laugh. They say the goofiest things. I also got told that I was going to make an amazing teacher and they wish they could be in my real class. As you could guess, my heart completely melted and they totally have me wrapped around their fingers. I couldn't love them anymore. I am so blessed and happy with where I am at. Good things happen when you open up and let them. They have taught me so many things already and it's only my 8th day. I'm going to miss those little boogers when it is time for me to go. I think I'll be back to visit.
I guess I'm going to survive...as long as I get all of these lesson plans and projects done! I also have my first lesson that my University Supervisor observes...wish me luck!

It's Worth A Shot...

So, I got an email from my witty mother earlier today, her wit and charm inspired me. So here I am, creating a blog. Maybe I was a bit eager... She is a much better writer than I am, with many more exciting things to talk about. But hey, it's worth a shot! So here I go!
My name is Courtney Pruett, I am from a teeny tiny town in Arkansas. I was born and raised on a farm and had an amazing upbringing. I am currently a senior at ASU working on my bachelor's in Early Childhood Education. I have researched and found many teacher blog's that I am absolutely obsessed with. I get some amazing ideas and cannot wait to implement them into my own classroom! So, I thought it was time to start practicing. When I graduate this May and hopefully get a job teaching in August, I will be up-to-date with this whole blogging "thing!"
I will be 24 years old this November. Still a "young grasshopper." I live back on the farm I was raised on and I'm working on renovating my grandmother's house. I call it, "The house that built me." It's 30 years old and has its own little charm, which I love. I have gotten two rooms completed and I am thrilled with the results, but completely stressed with the thought of working on the next two rooms after school just started. YIKES! I have many animals which I am obsessed with. They're my fur babies! I will post pictures of each of them at a later date, I'm sure you will get sick of them at some point! I have two dogs, Semper and Macy. "Sempie" is my cocker spaniel, he's completely spoiled! Macy is an over-sized large who lives outside, for obvious reasons. I like to think of her as the "intimidator." I have a barn cat Gracie who I rescued about 7 years ago. She's as country as they come. (I'll have to post pictures of her on the tractor-priceless!) Lioness is my fat house cat, she "rules the roost." I can't leave out my two goat babies! I have a dairy goat, Bluejeans and a half-boer goat, Britches. Talk about spoiled! I have loved goats since I was little, I was in 4-H and started showing them in the fair. The rest is history. I know, kinda strange. Besides all the pets, we have tons of moo cows that roam the 80 acres.
Needless to say, I'm an outside girl who would much rather be out working than inside doing just about anything, especially homework...which I should be doing right now...but hey, I think creating this blog should be some sort of extra credit...right??
So, this will be my first practice post. Hopefully I can submit it correctly! :) Get ready for some bad grammar now and again and perhaps some not so entertaining posts, but I'm just starting out. Thanks for listening to my "Ramblings."
